2019 was another year of growth for Computrols. This year we grew in the number of employees, customers, distribution partners, and branch locations, and we were also recognized by Louisiana Economic Development for our excellence in manufacturing.
Computrols Newest Branch: DFW
In March of this year, Computrols opened our sixth branch location in the heart of Dallas-Fort Worth. This office is headed by our former Southern California Branch Manager and Computrols’ veteran, Jeff Burnett. Burnett is ecstatic to return to his Texas roots and help grow Computrols’ presence in this flourishing market in North Texas. Computrols’ newcomer, Andrew Walton, has since successfully taken over as Branch Manager for Computrols in the Southern California region.
Notable 2019 Projects
Speaking of Dallas, Computrols kicked off a major HVAC controls retrofit at International Plaza I & II, twin Class-A office towers. The buildings were developed in 1999 and 2002 and total 757,000 square feet. The buildings will be utilizing the latest version of Computrols Building Automation Software (CBAS) and our lifetime-warranty LX and VAV Controllers.
The Computrols Southern California team is also in the process of kicking off two major projects in the downtown Los Angeles area that are projected for completion early in 2020. At 400 S. Hope Street, a 710,535 square-foot, Class Premier A+ office tower, the Computrols team will be integrating with the existing Siemens Building Automation System and providing our tenant overtime system for after-hours billing. Less than a mile away, Computrols will be retrofitting the BAS at 420 E. 3rd Street.
Distribution Partner Updates
Over the summer, Computrols added two companies to our distribution partner family: DocAir of Franklin, TN and Tryg Group of Golden, CO. DocAir quickly kicked off the partnership with a project at The Moxy Hotel in the Greater Nashville Area. This facility will be the first hotel in the U.S. to utilize a chill beam system.
This year also brought on our second annual distribution partner summit in which over 20 Computrols’ distribution partners met at our Louisiana-based headquarters and manufacturing facility to learn about Computrols’ newest products and exchange ideas. “We are thrilled with the turnout and the production we’ve seen from our partners this year”, said Computrols’ Manager of Strategic Partnerships, Mike Clayton.
Trade Shows and Conferences
2019 was a lite year for Computrols on the tradeshow circuit. Our team exhibited at the APPA Annual Conference which is geared towards facility managers of universities and other educational facilities. We also exhibited at the Mechanical Service Contractors of America’s (MSCA) reEnvision Conference in search of strategic partners. Finally, in November, our own Drew Mire and Mike Clayton presented at the National Facilities Management & Technology (NFMT) Conference on the topic of “Taking Existing Buildings from Smart to Smarter. New Media
To expand our educational efforts, Computrols began producing “The Building Technology Podcast” in which Computrols’ Director of Marketing and Business Development, Scott Holstein interviews technology and facility management experts around the country. The goal of the podcast is to help facility managers keep up with the latest trends in building technology and the Internet of Things (IoT). Computrols marketing team also produced a series of 6 webinars in 2019, some focusing on leveraging the Computrols product line and others focusing on making the most of your building automation system and partnerships.
