This Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes Computrols’ current policies and practices with regard to personal data collected by Computrols Building Computrols Software (CBAS), CBAS Web and CBAS.Live software products (hereinafter referred to collectively as “Computrols’ software products”). This privacy policy is independent from Computrols’ offline personal data collection practices. The term “personal data” refers to personally identifiable information about you, such as your name, birth date, e-mail address or mailing address, and any other information that is identified with you personally.

Notification of Changes to This Policy

Computrols is continually improving and adding new functionality and features to its websites and improving and adding to our existing products, services, and programs. Because of these ongoing changes, changes in the law, and the changing nature of technology, Computrols’ data practices will change from time to time. Any changes that occur will be outlined on this page.

Categories of Personal Data Collection

Computrols software products collect, store and process the following categories of personal data:

User Provided Data This is personal data that users provide to Computrols software products when using them. For example, when a supervisor creates user accounts for his subordinates, or when a user actively registers with software. Typically this includes full name, e-mail address and company information.

Network Data This includes network information collected while you are using the software. This typically includes information like IP address, operating system or browser information.

Usage Data This includes Information about how you use the software. Typically this includes what you do in the software, and when. 

Purpose of Personal Data Collection

We collect, store and process your personal data for the following reasons:

  • To provide user security authentication for the software.
  • To control feature access of the software.
  • To monitor and log usage of the software for security purposes.
  • To monitor and log usage of the software for product improvement.
  • To provide support for the software; and
  • As necessary to enforce license agreements, authorize product usage and prevent illegal activities. 

Personal data is necessary for these purposes. Failure to provide and authorize use of personal data may result in denial of access to Computrols software products.

User Provided Data

Each site installation of Computrols software products requires that site-specific information from authorized users be collected and manually entered into the software. The collection and entry of user provided data is either done directly by the user, or by the installing contractor, property manager or owner. Computrols personnel will only collect and enter user provided data when specifically requested to do so by the client. 

Usage and Network Data

Computrols will automatically collect, store and process information on user interaction with software products as well as information from the connecting network. It does this for the purposes of enhancing security, improving the software product and the user experience.

Push Notifications

Push notification services are provided with some of Computrols software products. Any such services are programmable and can be disabled by administrators. Push notification services provide users with important time-sensitive information, such as: 

  • HVAC System Alarms
  • Security Alarms
  • Unauthorized User Login Attempts

These services require a connection with the push notification service of your device. Push notifications include things like text messages on phones and emails or direct messages on computers. Device identifiers will be required to use these services, such as phone numbers or email addresses. 

Retention Periods

We only store and process user personal data during the software registration period. After the software is decommissioned, personal data is deleted in a timely manner, unless a longer retention period is required by applicable law (such as tax or commercial law).

Disclosure of Your Personal Data

Computrols does not share personal data from Computrols software products with other entities, except in the following circumstances:

  • When legally required. 
  • To protect your vital interests, 
  • In the event of a corporate sale, merger, reorganization, dissolution, or similar event.

While no method of data transmission is guaranteed against unlawful third party interception or other misuse, Computrols uses commercially reasonable efforts to ensure protection of your data including industry-standard encryption and offline security methods in our physical facilities.

Children

Computrols does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of thirteen. If you are under thirteen, please do not give us any personal data. If you have reason to believe that a child has provided personal data to Computrols, please contact us, and we will delete that information from our databases.

Governing Law

This privacy policy forms part of our website Terms and Conditions and as such shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Louisiana.
