October was an active month at Computrols headquarters just outside of New Orleans, LA. We celebrated our 36-year anniversary and manufacturing month. We also hosted a group of our remote technicians for training, as well as our second annual Distribution Partner Summit.

Computrols Anniversary

On October 1st, Computrols celebrated 36 years in business. Computrols was started by Roy Lynch in 1983 as a building automation service company in Houston, TX. After a number of years of successfully servicing some of the most prominent buildings in downtown Houston and New Orleans, Roy and his brother Kevin decided they wanted to make an intuitive building automation software that could be operated by facility managers. In 1989, they hired a recent graduate from the University of New Orleans, Mike Donlon, to create their very own building automation software that would later become known as CBAS.

After a couple of years of integrating their software with third-party systems, the three decided that they would create their own line of DDC controls as well. Because it was common practice for manufacturers to obsolete their products on a regular basis, they decided they would challenge the status quo by creating the industry’s only lifetime-warranty controllers. They also made the decision to manufacture all of their products in the U.S. Since this time, Computrols has remained a fixture in the building automation industry with branch offices and distribution partners throughout North America. To this day, Computrols continues to innovate, always holding onto the ideals of its founders, that all products should be made to empower the end-user.

Manufacturing Month

To celebrate Manufacturing Month, Computrols CEO, Drew Mire, sent out letters to all Computrols’ customers thanking them for their part in allowing Computrols to manufacture our products in the USA. A copy of the letter can be found below.

Remote Technician Training

Having branch offices scattered throughout the country, Computrols’ field technicians are typically trained at their individual branch offices. As a means of stepping up our training regimen for some of our more recent hires, we brought them into our global headquarters for in-person training courses. The three-day training covered everything from company standards to product training to IT Networking. On the last day of training, the technicians were treated to some local cuisine cooked by our CEO, Drew Mire. (Pictured below)

2019 Distribution Partner Summit

On October 24th and 25th, Computrols hosted over 20 of its distribution partners from around the country at its second annual Distribution Partner Summit. The event doubled in size from the previous year and featured a number of new products that will be rolled out in 2020.

Computrols presented its Distribution Partner of the Year Award to Plug Smart, a long-time partner in the Columbus, Ohio area who recently expanded its operations to Central and South Florida.

Attendees also received updates on existing products, a tour of the factory, an outline of Computrols sales and marketing support, and took part in roundtable discussions.

Manager of Strategic Partnerships, Mike Clayton, said “the feedback we received from the attendees was overwhelmingly positive. We are really pleased with the turnout and the feedback our partners provided us.”
