At Computrols, we’re constantly reminded of the power and flexibility of our products when our customers utilize them in unique ways. Point names like “Fountain Height” or other creative applications always make us smile.

With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, the question was tossed around our office – what would it take to have a “Turkey Done?” point using CBAS? With that in mind, our team went to work and came up with this:

Using an infrared temperature sensor to measure oil temperature, a modulating gas valve, and PID control, our team was able to maintain an optimal frying temperature automatically.

Other software points and calculations were used to calculate the frying time based on the turkey’s weight, and a timer to keep track of the cooking time, complete with an email notification. The result? A perfectly cooked, tasty lunch and an answer to our question about a “Turkey Done?” point.
