Marathon Oil Tower experiences positive impact on the environment & expenses
The recent installation of Computrols’ web-based energy management system has been found to enhance tenant comfort as well as assist building owner and manager Transwestern’s efforts to lower energy consumption in Houston’s Marathon Oil Tower. According to Transwestern’s The Tower View newsletter, “this state-of-the-art system utilizes electronic controls and sensors which allow continuous monitoring of temperatures, space conditions, and all HVAC components, as well as outside conditions.” The conclusion the newsletter draws is that “this [system] will ultimately allow the implementation of complex and varying operational control strategies designed to increase tenant comfort and reduce energy consumption.”

It is estimated that the new Computrols building automation system combined with the newly installed and more efficient lighting ballasts “will reduce the building’s annual energy consumption by approximately 3,000,000 KWH. That’s roughly enough power to supply 300 houses with electricity for one year.” The estimated dollar savings is $315,000 annually.

The Tower View is a newsletter published exclusively for Marathon Oil Tower tenants by Transwestern and managed by Heather McMillon. You can view her full article in PDF format here.
